Need a Board? We’ve Got Your Back — Meet Katie Rose
Sunset. Saltwater. A group of strangers who somehow become friends before the night is over.
That’s the Paddle Boarding SD magic.
But every paddle has one tiny, very real question hiding underneath all the good vibes:
What if I don’t have a board?
Good news: that is not a reason to stay home.
At Paddle Boarding SD, we’ve always believed the bay is better when more people can get out there. First-timers. Regulars. Solo adventurers. People who have never held a paddle correctly in their life. People who say, “I have terrible balance,” and then somehow end up standing, smiling, and wondering why they waited so long.
This community was built on a simple idea: show up, get on the water, meet good people, and leave with a story.
And when you need the gear to make that happen?
Katie Rose has your back.
Our Go-To Rental Connection
Katie Rose is one of the people who helps make Paddle Boarding SD events easier, smoother, and more welcoming for anyone who wants to join but does not own a board.
Need a paddleboard rental for an upcoming group paddle?
Bringing a friend who wants to try it for the first time?
Coming solo and wondering how to get set up?
Trying to make it to one of our themed paddles without showing up empty-handed?
That is where Katie comes in.
Through SUP Coronado, Floating Yogis, and Yoga In Beautiful Places, Katie and her team offer paddleboard rentals, guided tours, SUP yoga, private group experiences, beach yoga, and other outdoor experiences around San Diego, including Coronado and Mission Bay. She also works with beginner-friendly groups, parties, birthdays, bachelorettes, and anyone looking for an easy way to get on the water without overthinking the logistics.
In other words: you do not need to own a garage full of gear to be part of the paddle.
You just need to say yes.
No Board? No Clue? No Problem.
We say this a lot because we mean it.
Paddle Boarding SD is not about being the most experienced person on the water. It is not about showing up with the fanciest board, the cleanest stroke, or the most serious face.
It is about showing up.
It is about that first shaky stand.
The friend who cheers when you find your balance.
The sunset that makes everyone stop talking for a second.
The group photo where half the people just met an hour ago.
The bonfire afterward.
The story you did not expect to have when the day started.
Our past event posts have said it a few different ways: first-timers are welcome, rentals and tips are available, and if you need a board, we’ve got connections. That is not just event copy. That is the whole point.
Katie helps remove one of the biggest excuses people have for not coming:
“I would go, but I don’t have a board.”
Now you do not get to use that one.
What Katie Can Help With
For Paddle Boarding SD events and beyond, Katie is a great contact when you need help getting on the water. Depending on availability and the specific event, she may be able to help with:
Paddleboard rentals
Paddles and basic gear
Beginner-friendly guidance
Group rentals
Guided paddle experiences
SUP yoga and floating classes
Private group experiences
Coronado and Mission Bay paddle options
The best move is simple: reach out early, tell her which Paddle Boarding SD event you are joining, how many boards you need, and whether you are brand new or already comfortable on the water.
Then breathe.
You are not supposed to have it all figured out before you show up.
That is what community is for.
First-Timers, This Is Your Sign
Every paddle has someone who is nervous.
They say they are probably going to fall in.
They ask if people will laugh.
They wonder if everyone else already knows each other.
They assume they are the only beginner.
Then they show up and realize half the group is figuring it out too.
That is the beauty of it.
Nobody is here to judge your paddle stroke. Nobody cares if you kneel for a while before standing. Nobody is checking whether you know the difference between a touring board and an all-around board.
We are here to get outside, enjoy San Diego, and remember that the best nights usually start with a little uncertainty.
So if you have been waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect board, or the perfect excuse to finally come paddle with us, this is it.
Need a board?
We’ve got your back.
Even better: Katie does too.
